Information about Santorini
Santorini is one of the most impressive islands of Greece and its romantic sunset is famous all over the world. The shape of the island is a remnant of the explosion in the middle of the 17th century BC, one of the largest volcanic eruptions in history. The volcano remains active and you can visit it by boat from the old port of Fira.
Fira and Oia are spread out on the edge of the caldera and offer incredible views of the endless open sea. The whitewashed houses of Santorini are built amphitheatrically with a beautiful view of the volcano and the Aegean Sea. You will find many bars and shops in the picturesque alleys as well as traditional churches and restaurants to taste the local cuisine.
There are plenty of organized beaches as for example Perivolos, Kamari and Perissa, while the Red Beach is impressing with the dark rocks that surround it.
